The Mortgage Loan Originator focuses on generating leads through marketing and promotional strategies to attract new purchase business and originate loans. This position is responsible for promoting the company and cold calling Real Estate Agents, Builders, Financial Planners, Attorneys, Friends, Family and other referral sources.  This individual will originate loans, manage the pipeline and work with the customers and referral sources to provide a smooth and professional loan transaction.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Generate leads for the origination of loans through the development and retention of referral contacts (realtors, builders, clients, attorneys, etc).
  • Collect documentation from applicants and deliver loan package to Customer Care Reps or Processors and manage the loan pipeline for all originated loans through closing and funding while maintaining high levels of customer service providing information to all those involved in the loan process.
  • Maintain knowledge of available loan products, processing procedures, and underwriting and general departmental guideline as well as Company's policies and procedures.
  • Attend and participate in all training meetings as required by management. Initiate and maintain education on all legal and guideline changes.


Required Skills/Experience:

  • Proven success in a Retail mortgage sales position.
  • Solid experience and knowledge with Conventional and Government product lines.
  • A history of strong sales and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Resourcefulness and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Detail orientation with strong organizational and follow-through skills to meet frequent deadlines.
  • Utilize computer resources for communication and access of daily rates, applicant credit reports, loan information, and other job-related activities.
  • Ability to represent both self and company in a professional manner.
  • The desire and ability to build and grow strong interpersonal and business relationships. 
  • Proactive and self-motivated demeanor.
  • Formal post-secondary education desired.

Hours & Work Schedule

Hours per Week:  40

Work Schedule:  Monday through Friday
