Software Developer III (Senior)

Overview: Franklin American Mortgage is looking for an experienced senior software development professional to join our development team in information technology at our corporate office in Franklin, TN. Senior Software developers develop and install software solutions for a mix of greenfield opportunities as well as enhancements to recently built services and applications by studying information needs; conferring with product owners and users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; following the software development lifecycle.

Duties Include:

  • Writing self-documenting code and unit tests.
  • Develop high-quality software designs. Producing clean and efficient code.
  • Automate tasks through appropriate tools and scripting. Includes testing and debugging.
  • Doing code reviews; watching for adherence to standards, code soundness, and requirement fulfillment.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to fix and improve proprietary software and other products as assigned.
  • Determine operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development and proposed solutions.
  • Document and demonstrate solutions through documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts and code comments.
  • Facilitate code reviews and provide coaching for junior developers.
  • Staying current with development technologies and practices; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

What we need from you:

  • B.S. in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 6-10 years of hands-on software development experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with full software development lifecycle including traditional waterfall and agile methodologies.
  • Strong integration background required. Experience developing web services APIs (REST, SOAP, XML, JSON).
  • Familiarity with security concepts (authentication, authorization, encryption, digital signature), SSL, web service proxies, firewalls and multi-protocol gateways required.
  • Require Extensive experience with server-side enterprise Java a must. This includes, but is not limited to, JSPs, servlets, Spring, Hibernate and JDBC.
  • Prefer 1+ year experience with containers and resource managers (Docker).
  • Required Skills: Java, Javascript, HTML5, JSP, Servlets, Spring, Hibernate, JDCBC, SQL, Linux, ETL, Apache Tomcat.
  • Extensive experience writing and testing SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and indexes. Preferred knowledge of database architecture.
